DIGITAL SCREENING MAMMOGRAMS

Screening Mammograms can detect changes in the breast up to two years before a patient or physician can feel them on examination. Current guidelines from the American Cancer Society (ACS) recommend screening mammograms every year for women beginning at age 40. Research has shown that annual mammograms lead to early detection of breast cancers when they are more easily curable and breast-conservation therapies are available.

ALL PATIENTS SHOULD BRING ANY AVAILABLE PRIOR OUTSIDE IMAGES WITH THEM AT THE TIME OF THEIR APPOINTMENT. NIC WILL RETURN THESE IMAGES FOR YOU. FOR MAXIMAL QUALITY PLEASE ASK FOR ORIGINAL FILMS (not copies).

DIGITAL DIAGNOSTIC MAMMOGRAMS

For women with breast problems including focal pain, lump or nipple discharge, NIC offers diagnostic mammograms. The diagnostic mammogram is often followed by breast ultrasound performed the same day.

ALL PATIENTS SHOULD BRING ANY AVAILABLE PRIOR OUTSIDE IMAGES TO THEIR APPOINTMENT. NIC WILL RETURN THESE IMAGES TO YOU. FOR MAXIMAL QUALITY PLEASE ASK FOR DICOM-FORMAT, CDs, OR ORIGINAL FILMS (not copies).

WOMEN’S HEALTH ULTRASOUND EXAMS

NIC has the latest generation of ultrasound equipment operated by highly trained female technologists offering full service exams:

Female Health Ultrasound Studies
  • Breast Imaging (with consultation by female radiologist)
  • Pelvic Imaging (ovaries, uterus)
  • Obstetric Imaging for fetal growth, structural surveys, and fetal well being (biophysical profiles)
  • OB ultrasounds (includes CD at no additional charge)
General Ultrasound Studies
  • General Body Imaging (liver, spleen, kidney, pancreas)
  • Vascular Imaging (carotid ultrasounds, lower extremity venous doppler)
  • Same and next day appointments are usually available.

Dexa (Bone Density) Studies

A Bone Density Scan, also called a Dexa scan, can help your doctor determine if you have osteoporosis or are at risk for developing this degenerative disease. It helps doctors determine your risk before your bones become so brittle that they break easily. The test is recommended for people who have several risk factors for developing osteoporosis such as:

  • Women aged 65 or older
  • Postmenopausal women under 65 with other risk factors
  • Men aged 70 or older
  • Men between 50 and 70 with other risk factors
  • Anyone over 50 who has had a bone broken in non-traumatic situations
  • Family history of osteoporosis
  • Postmenopausal women who discontinue hormone therapy
  • Low body weight
  • White or Southeast Asian women
  • African-American or Hispanic men
  • Personal history of broken bones
  • Using medications known to cause bone loss such as steroids

Please call NIC to schedule …same and next day appointments are usually available.
